The Leadership
Codex

One Chapter, One Tool, One Work of Art.

Fifty chapters · Forty tools · Five books

English edition · November 2026 — French edition · December 2026

Carlos Contreras Chacón, author of The Leadership Codex

Most leadership books hand you a philosophy and leave you to work out the mechanics yourself. This one gives you forty named tools, with explicit steps — and then does something no other book on the shelf does: every chapter is anchored in a single work of art.

Not as decoration. A forge by Velázquez, a storm by Rembrandt, a David by Bernini: each carries a truth about the craft that no framework can convey, and each meditation sends the reader back to the tool with what the tool alone could not give.

Written by a practitioner who has run operations in four countries, tested every week with six hundred readers before a single page was fixed, and reworked for eighteen months.

The system

One chapter, one tool, one work of art.

Every chapter follows the same architecture, all fifty of them, without exception.

01

A real situation

Aviation, healthcare, logistics, finance, public service, military or political history. The book is sector-agnostic.

02

A named tool

Forty original tools, with explicit steps, tested in the field — for the hardest parts of the job.

03

A work of art

That reframes the argument and carries what no framework can carry. Rodin, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Bernini and Caravaggio on the covers.

04

A short reflection

Warm only at the end. Every chapter closes on one concrete action. A book for the desk, not the shelf.

The work

Five books, one arc.

The inner life first, then other people, then the field, then the organisation, then what remains. Each book stands alone; the order is recommended. All five are published in English, in paperback, printed on demand and shipped by Lulu.

A note on Book V

Books I to IV offer named tools grounded in business case studies. Book V changes method: each chapter pairs a historical leader with an artist whose lives tell the same story in two fields — Scipio Africanus and Molière, Charles de Gaulle and Camille Claudel, Alfonso X the Wise and Hokusai, Tokugawa Ieyasu and Giorgio Morandi, Charles V and Goya, Isabella of Castile and Picasso, Thomas Aquinas and La Fontaine, Eisenhower and Michelangelo, Marcus Aurelius and Rembrandt.

Who it is for

For those who refuse to let leadership become a slogan.

01

Young leaders starting out

Those who still have the light in their eyes and refuse to let the noise put it out.

02

Mid-career leaders

Those who have made compromises and wonder, sometimes at night, whether they have become someone they would have refused to become at twenty-five.

03

Senior leaders

Treated as a generation that never understood the modern emotional contract — and still holding the standard.

04

Those who have never led

And want to understand what leadership really demands when the room goes quiet and a decision has to be made.
